Class: Alchemist

Concepts and Roles within the campaign

Alchemist are virtually the only ones within LCM campaigns to produce (with any volume at least) alchemical salves, poisons, explosives, magical potions and any number of strange, exotic and quality of life items. As such, Alchemist within low magic LCM campaigns can be found in a number of different roles. An alchemist working for an assassins guild will be making poisons. One working at the local hospital may take on the role of an attending physician. One working for the military will likely either be focused on healing tinctures or explosives. One working in an established shop in town will tend to focus on more mundane quality of life items like sun rods and tender twigs.

Modified Class Skills List:
The alchemist’s class skills are Climb (Str), Craft (any) (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str).

Alternate Favored Class Bonus: Dwarves
Add + 1/2 to the number of bombs per day the alchemist can create.

Work still to be done on the alchemist class: greater integration with the creation of black powder weapons and explosives.

Visionary Researcher

Marginally Appropriate (needs adjustments to fit campaign themes)
Alchemist: Chirurgeon may use their 10th level ability to revive the recently dead as per a cleric with the healing domain

Alchemical Sapper may be taken with Trap BreakerNOTE: this archetype is still limited by the DC 20 restriction for detection and disabling traps but can now “breach” suspected doors, chests, etc. A fumbled roll however could destroy fragile objects or cause the explosive to detonate prematurely.
