Lazlo COS Pathfinder - Low Magic
Spell Point System
The following spell point system was based off of the official one (variant rule) from the 3.5 SRD which can be found here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/spellPoints.htm Please note that my version is based off of raw total spell levels. That and the fact that it does not offer the option to “under cast” spells (a level 3 spell will always cost 3 pts), which also accounts for fewer points under my system.
A character who would normally receive bonus spells from a class feature (such as from wizard specialization or access to a domain) can instead prepare extra spells of the appropriate levels, domains, and/or schools. The character doesn’t get any extra spell points (and thus can’t cast any more spells than normal), but the added flexibility of being able to use the bonus spell more than once per day makes up for that.
NOTE: Cleric Domain spells are always considered to be prepared for the day, but they loose the ability to spontaneously convert a spell to Cure X Wounds. Druids are considered to have the Summon Nature’s Ally as a Domain, and thus prepped for the day and available for dynamic casting. Wizards with Spell Mastery are treated the same, these spells are always considered prepped for the day and available for dynamic casting even if not memorized into their current Spells Prepped for the day.
Meta-Magic simply adds to the spell points required to cast the spell, with no additional casting time required. Pretty simple.
